Art Opening: Implement Series by Joshua Miller

Artist Statement:
There is a quiet unspoken beauty in the process of making art, but also, in the tools themselves. As a maker, I see our tools as an extension of ourselves. The Implement Series is inspired by that idea. I create these pieces using locally sourced white oak and walnut, which is air dried in my barn for over a year. I use traditional joinery instead of nails and fasteners. My design’s are influenced by tools of day’s past, and through a subtle texture I hope to create a patina that helps to link this work to a time “When Tools were Beautiful”.
