Spring

  • Historic Garden Week
    April – For one week next April, visitors will tour inspired private landscapes, public gardens and historic sites across Virginia.
  • Springfest
    April – A three-day focus on Mozart and his contemporaries, including J.C. Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, and many others.
  • Staunton Earth Day Celebration
    April – Each year, Staunton holds a large, family-friendly educational fair for Earth Day.

  • American Shakespeare Center’s Annual Birthday Bash
    April – Celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday with a block party and more!

  • Staunton Jams
    May – Bi-annual celebration of music, art, and food hosted by the Shenandoah Valley’s own Americana music sensations The Judy Chops.

Summer

  • Shenandoah Valley Juneteenth Celebration
    June – Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The effort is also telling of the bravery, courage and determination of freedom.

  • Red Wing Roots Music Festival
    Last weekend in June – Three-day Americana music festival, with camping, great food, and beer.

  • Festival of Concerts – Heifetz International Music Institute
    Renowned faculty, special guests and world-class students will be featured in 50+ concerts in venues across Staunton and throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
  • Happy Birthday America
    4th of July concert, 5K race, parade, parent/child baseball game, vesper service, carnival rides, and concessions. The headline performance is by homegrown, country group, Wilson Fairchild—sons of Harold and Don Reid of the Statler Brothers.

  • Staunton Music Festival
    August – Each August Staunton Music Festival welcomes over 90 acclaimed professionals from around the world to perform in 30 events.

Fall

  • Art in the Park
    September – This family-friendly annual festival highlights the fine art and fine crafts of local and regional artists.

  • African American Heritage Festival The oldest festival of its kind in the Shenandoah Valley, the AAHF includes entertainment, vendors, a church service on Sunday and community outreach.
  • Queen City Mischief & Magic
    4th weekend in September – With a touch of wizardry, historic downtown Staunton is transformed into a magical village. Themed shopping, dining, music, and hands-on activities for all ages.

    October – Celebrate pride, resilience, joy and community.

  • Shenandoah Fall Foliage Bike Festival
    October – The Shenandoah Bike Foliage Festival offers a full weekend of cycling in some of the most beautiful parts of Virginia. Constant vistas of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains enhance your enjoyment of the scenic countryside of the Shenandoah Valley.

  • Historic Staunton Foundation’s Annual Holiday House Tour
    December – Get a rare glimpse inside stunning landmark homes decorated for the holidays. Discover the history of Staunton and experience the results of thoughtful restoration in our community.
