Join us for After-Hours Jams at Baja Bean with two nights of double-headers. Friday 10/23, and Saturday 10/24! FRIDAY 10/23: Brotherhood of Musicians 8:00PM – Midnight Hiss* 9:30PM – Spilling Dew* SATURDAY 10/24: Costume Party 6:30PM – The Hot Mamas Trio* 8:30PM – The Falsies* MIDNIGHT HISS is a newly formed rock band bringing together longtime Staunton musicians, old friends, brothers, and former bandmates for a hometown reunion. Featuring legendary guitarist Gantt Tomlinson, the four-piece includes Pete Stallings and Sam Stallings on guitar and bass and Chris Wright on drums. Known to many for crafting award-winning cocktails behind the bar, Gantt has reignited his decades-long passion for guitar alongside former bandmates from Staunton rock outfit Secret Ninja Death Squad. With shared musical history, effortless chemistry, and a sound rooted in years of playing together, Midnight Hiss delivers a brotherhood-fueled performance packed with rock ’n’ roll swagger and hometown spirit. SPILLING DEW is an alternative rock band from Harrisonburg, Virginia, with roots in the Shenandoah Valley music scene dating back to 1995. The band features longtime friends Todd Schlabach (lead guitar, vocals), Travis Whitmore (drums, percussion), Chris Kyger (bass), and Jason Rhodes (rhythm guitar, vocals). United by a shared love of honest songwriting, dynamic arrangements, and enduring friendship, the group has remarkably maintained its original lineup since its founding. After years of occasional performances, Spilling Dew officially reconvened in 2026 with renewed creative energy and focus. The band is now preparing to release new music and perform select live shows, blending its original sound with decades of musical growth and experience. THE HOT MAMAS are an all-female collective of multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters based in Staunton, Virginia, affectionately known as the “Queens of the Queen City.” Their unique sound blends Appalachian folk, swing, pop, and punk into a playful style they call “Punkalachian.” With an unconventional mix of instruments—including banjo, accordion, clarinet, toy piano, ukulele, washboard, and kazoo—they deliver a performance full of surprises. The trio features Jen Kidd, Nancy Gaston, and Maria Leckey, bringing grit, humor, harmonies, and plenty of sass to the stage. The Hot Mamas serve up an eclectic, irreverent musical experience that’s as spirited and unpredictable as a junkyard bathtub full of homemade instruments! THE FALSIES are a long-running, cult-favorite absurdist rock and theatrical punk band from Charlottesville, Virginia, known for their high-energy performances, outrageous costumes, and irreverent humor. Formed in September 2005, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025. Drawing inspiration from the Theatre of the Absurd, the B-52s, They Might Be Giants, and classic punk and rock, their shows feature theatrical antics and a backing vocal choir. Hailed as “legendary” by Charlottesville radio station WTJU 91.1 FM, The Falsies have earned a place among the defining acts of the local music scene. After returning from a hiatus around 2019, they’ve continued bringing their wonderfully unconventional sound and spectacle to stages throughout Virginia.
