Taking the ‘Dis’ Out of Civil Discourse: Rebuilding Democracy

This event is no longer available.

Come join the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library at our Library and Research Center on Monday, May 15 at 7:00 pm as we host Meg Heubeck who will speak on American democracy. Democracy benefits from the vigorous debate and a diversity of opinions however, the current climate of polarization has eroded traditions of civility that have bolstered policy-making in the past.

This dynamic presentation will discuss how we can bring the tradition back by looking at the media and its effect on political discourse, discussing how we might bring the political discussion back to our schools and homes, and experimenting with strategies for incorporating civil discourse into our daily lives.

Join us at our Library and Research Center at 235 E Beverley St, Staunton, VA, or via Zoom for this FREE event.
