Shop and Dine Out Downtown (and Beyond) in Staunton

Staunton is bringing back its popular Shop & Dine Out in Downtown program for its sixth season, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy an expanded outdoor experience all weekend long, beginning Friday, April 4th.

Beverley Street will be closed to vehicles from Lewis Street to Market Street every weekend beginning Friday at 4 p.m. until Monday at 7:30 a.m. through October. Cross streets will remain open to traffic. On certain holiday weekends closures will be extended through Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. Special events may also require adjustments to the regular schedule. Changes will be announced on the city’s website www.ci.staunton.va.us.

Staunton’s Shop and Dine Out Downtown and Beyond allows restaurants and businesses to set up al fresco dining areas and merchandise displays, but it’s more than just a chance for the businesses to claim more dining and retail space. Did you know that eating (and shopping) outside actually has health benefits? We relax more when we’re breathing fresh air. It lowers stress, improves digestion, promotes mindfulness, and improves our mood. The added Vitamin D from sunlight helps with immunity and bone strength. Plus, the chance to listen to live music and greet your neighbors as they stroll by contributes to community wellbeing.

Where to Park

Beverley Street will close to traffic (and parking), but cross streets will stay open. Park in the New Street Parking Garage, Johnson Street Parking Garage, Wharf Parking Lot, or Augusta Street Parking Lot. Better yet, if you live close enough, walk downtown and enjoy even more of this gorgeous spring weather! While you’re exploring, look for murals and other examples of Staunton’s outdoor public art.
