Introduction to Encaustic Painting: Painting with Fire at The Art Hive

Join us for the **Introduction to Encaustic Painting: Painting with Fire** workshop at The Art Hive, designed for art enthusiasts of all skill levels, from beginners to intermediates. This exciting class will cover the history of encaustic painting, selecting the right surfaces, and the essential dos and don’ts of working with heat. Participants will learn various techniques, including smooth vs. textured surfaces, color mixing, working with transparency vs. opacity, mark making, and even a brief introduction to encaustic oil sticks. Each participant will receive two panels: one sample board to explore techniques collaboratively and a second panel for a personal project. All necessary supplies, including heated palettes, heat guns, and assorted materials, will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring any materials or unique mark-making tools they wish to integrate into their artwork. Due to the use of heated tools and flames, this workshop is limited to individuals aged 18 and above.
