Beginner Contemporary Oshi-e

Contemporary Oshi-e with Wendy Christine Duke Ohi-e is pronounced “oh-she-a”, and means “pressed picture” in Japanese The technique came to Japan from China around the 8th Century. It has been expanded upon and modified many times over the centuries.Wendy is the latest to do so! Contemporary Oshi-e iis easy to learn and appropriate for ages 12 and up. You will need moderate hand strength: enough to cut mat board and use a craft knife, but there is no sewing or drawing involved. Teacher : Wendy Christine Duke Wendy learned oshi-e nearly 55 years ago while living in northern Japan. She and her Sensei did not speak each other’s language, so she learned by pantomime – you won’t have to do that! MATERIALS PROVIDED: Printed Class Notes All materials, embellishments, supplies & tools to walk away with a finished 5” x 7” HEART or LEAF ready-to-frame!
