Art of Tea Tasting with Curran

Join us for an immersive tea-tasting experience led by our resident tea sommelier. While you may have met Curran as our bookseller at Staunton Books & Tea on Saturday afternoons, you might not know that he is a lifelong professional in the tea world. Before joining Staunton Books & Tea, Curran owned a tea shop in Flagstaff, Arizona, and, for decades, partnered with his brother in a wholesale tea business. His depth of knowledge, keen palate, and warm storytelling make him the perfect host for anyone curious about tea’s many layers. At each session, participants will taste half a dozen teas, exploring a curated selection that may include pure organic teas, vibrant chai blends, and herbal infusions ranging from fruity to spicy to delicately grassy. As you sip, Curran will lead you through the nuances of taste, aroma, body, mouthfeel, and other essential characteristics that shape a great cup of tea. Whether you’re a seasoned tea drinker or just beginning your journey, this is a unique chance to learn directly from an expert—and perhaps discover a new favorite. We will host two tasting events in December, each featuring a different lineup of teas. Come for the flavor, stay for the conversation, and leave with a deeper appreciation of the world’s most comforting beverage. Each participant will also receive a complimentary 1/2-ounce pack of tea and a piece of chocolate from our shop.
