DEPOT SPIRIT BOX TOUR — 1890 TRAIN WRECK 136 YEARS LATER
Join us for the DEPOT SPIRIT BOX TOUR: THE TRAIN WRECK OF 1890 on Sunday, April 26th, as we commemorate the 136th anniversary of a tragic event that shook Staunton’s historic depot station. This unique experience blends history and the paranormal, offering a 75-minute guided exploration of the devastating train wreck that claimed the life of Miss Myrtle Knox on April 28, 1890. As you walk along the platform where this tragedy occurred, you will hear detailed accounts of the wreck and witness testimonies suggesting that Miss Knox’s spirit may still linger in the area. The tour will also cover lesser-known stories related to the depot and its influential rail line in shaping Staunton’s past. Following the historical discussion, participants will be introduced to a Spirit Box, a device that allows communication with spirits through scanned radio frequencies. You’ll listen to audio clips from past investigations, learning how researchers analyze responses, before engaging in a live Spirit Box session aimed at connecting with those from Staunton’s haunted history. Compelling findings may be shared on our website and YouTube channel. As anniversaries are thought to heighten paranormal activity, this event promises a thrilling encounter with the echoes of the past. Meet us 15 minutes early at the New Street Parking Garage, and prepare for an adventure that goes beyond just a ghost tour.
