Battle Jacket Workshop

Back by popular demand! The SolArt Center is thrilled to host a Battle Jacket Workshop, Saturday June 8 from 1-3pm

Join the DC area’s Battle Jacket Project in learning to create and attach your own patches, how to use various needlework stitches to mend and customize your jacket, and how to express your own unique identity through the DIY art of punk battle jackets! In this free community workshop, you will explore a variety of accessible techniques and recycled materials with teaching fiber artists, while creating new connections with others. Learn a few tricks, make some friends, see our traveling battle jacket exhibit, and bring a bit of the punk spirit to the Queen City!

Workshop participants are encouraged to bring their own jacket, vest, shirt, bag, or other garment to customize. A small number of donated jackets in limited sizes will be available for those who do not have their own (available on a first come, first serve basis). All other materials provided.

This is a free event!

The SolArt Center is located at 6 Byers Street in the Staunton Wharf. Parking is easy and free in the Wharf lot
