Boxcar Speakeasy LIVE at SolArt!
This event is no longer available.
A little jaunty, a little sweaty, mostly legal, Boxcar Speakeasy makes hot jazz music in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Drawing inspiration from the founding fathers of jazz—Kid Ory, Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet—and mixing it with later artists like Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and Pete Fountain, they make their own sound. Their live performances feel less like Preservation Hall concerts, but more like CBGB gigs. The quintet has members from punk and metal bands, as well as community orchestras and old time jam spots.
Danny Price leads the band with tenor banjo and joins bassist Pat Jarrett in the rhythm section. Bruce Fox plays the big trombone, Carter Green is on the archtop electric guitar and Glendon Gill blows the clarinet.
Put on your dancing shoes, come on out and have a drink with these guys.
