SolArt welcomes the return of Sophie Wellington, performing with Jean-Baptiste Cardineau!
Jean-Baptiste Cardineau and Sophie Wellington each bring their inspired and unique musical voices to their duo collaboration. They share a passion for arranging old time, bluegrass, country music, French songs, and more into a playful and skilled musical dialogue represented by their first release together: Without Further à Deux.
Sophie is a Boston-based musician and percussive dancer with a singular approach to music. She was brought up in old time music and leans into the magnetism of the tradition through her innovative and curious approach. Franco-American musician and songwriter Jean-Baptiste brings an inventive and unique Nouveau-Traditionelle approach to mandolin and guitar playing. He charms crowds with his sense of humor, folksy aphorisms, and most of all his masterful and seasoned playing.
This EP captures a signature element of the duo’s sound: spontaneous, fearless expression of classics and originals. It was recorded live by good friend and collaborator Dan Bui at The Brighton House in Boston, MA.
