Ocean Conservancy Digital Communications Guru to Give Talk at MBU

MBU’s 2023 Smyth Lecture will feature environmental nonprofit communications guru and self-described “geek for good,” Robyn Stegman ’09, a senior manager of digital campaigns for the Ocean Conservancy.

Stegman made waves leading a mid-2010s campaign to raise awareness around a groundbreaking trash-fighting machine in Baltimore Harbor. Coverage from outlets like National Geographic, Discovery, and the New Yorker fueled a revolution in U.S. policies around waterways in major coastal cities.

Stegman’s talk will focus on her efforts to fight climate change and environmental injustice using innovative approaches to social media and digital communications. The free event is open to the public and will be held at 7 p.m. on March 22 in Miller Chapel.
