HEEMEYER
In 2004 Heemeyer’s namesake Marvin Heemeyer spent a winter welding steel armor onto a bulldozer and prepared to exact revenge on what he perceived as the “good ol’ boy network” that kept him from living how he wanted. After watching police across the country murder black and brown people with impunity Heemeyer has embodied the angst, alienation and rage of seeing the worst aspects of humanity wreak havoc on the lives of millions, and turned it into music.

They have embodied the tune-low-play-slow musical style of Southern sludge metal while experimenting with twin-bass leads. The band takes inspiration from the greats, like Crowbar, Clutch, Mastodon, Weedeater and Sleep as well as fellow Virginia artists Windhand, Cough, Earthling and Valkyrie. Singer Maggie Worthington joined drummer Joe Frazier [Diseased Earth], bassists Scott Hensley [The House We Had, Tribus] and Pat Jarrett [Cocaine James] after the release of Unreasonable and brought with her decades of singing in the church and in the Shenandoah Valley music traditions.
