QCMS Presents: Sophie Wellington – A Listening Room Concert

Mixing a deep love of Appalachian music with a world class jazz education, Sophie will be teaching and performing in residency at Queen City Music Studios from May 11th – May 22nd. Sophie Wellington is a Staunton native, and is bringing their unique style to Queen City Music Studios for a listening room concert, several workshops, a waltz night, and private lessons. About the Artist: Sophie Wellington is an old time fiddler, flat-pick guitarist, percussive dancer and jazz vocalist based in Boston, MA. Sophie grew up in Staunton, VA and was raised in its vibrant music community by musician and dance caller Bill Wellington and classical pianist Lynne Mackey. Sophie graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2022 with a degree in jazz voice and American roots music, and has since taught fiddle, flatfooting, guitar, and music theory at numerous festivals and camps. Sophie also toured extensively with musician and modern day bard Willi Carlisle.
