From Brick Reds To Blue Ridge Blues: The Colors of Staunton
Each June and July, Staunton celebrates history, community, and the joyful expression of different aspects of human experience. Flowers spill over brick sidewalks, and flags fly high representing Pride Month and Independence Day. You’ll find the whole rainbow here in its natural habitat: painted on murals, fluttering on porches, and glowing from the inside of beloved small businesses. You’ll find it in fireworks, at festivals, and Instagram photo hotspots. Staunton is a town where bold color meets bold spirit, and everyone’s welcome.

- The red brick of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum and other buildings marks Staunton’s historic downtown.
- Your friendly Staunton neighborhood Spiderman makes locals and visitors, young and old, feel at home.

- We like pepper season at the Staunton Farmers’ Market, but the market bursts with color every week!
Yellow
- Wright’s Dairy Rite has been advertising with bright yellow since the 1950s! Have you stopped at this Staunton icon recently?
- Why not taste the yellow olive oil at Staunton Olive Oil Company?
- You’ll come for the music, but you’ll also enjoy looking at the beautiful brass on some of the instruments you’ll hear during the Staunton Music Festival.
Green
- Wander the tree-lined trails in Montgomery Hall Park for peace and tranquility.
- Spread your blankets and chairs on the lush summer grass under the trees at the Gypsy Hill Park Bandstand during summer concerts.
- Look for pops of color on the door and checkerboard floor at Split Banana.
- You’ll find lots of green inside Burrow and Vine, which just re-opened in a new downtown location.
Blue
- The Staunton Braves’ blue and gray uniforms inspire hometown spirit and memories of summer nights at the ballpark.
- Sunset high on Humpback Rock is worth the hike!
- The walls inside Marino’s Lunch set a retro tone, a perfect backdrop to the weekly jam sessions.
Purple
- Just minutes away, White Oak Lavender Farm is a fragrant haven where you can find lavender lemonade, wine and beer, purple-hued sunsets, and photo ops galore.
- Purple can be found on the scales of dragons and many other magical and marvelous things you’ll see at the annual Queen City Mischief and Magic Festival.
- Here’s more purple in one of Staunton’s stunning flower gardens outside the library!
White
- Why are the walls of Irish farm at the Frontier Culture Museum white? Tour the museum to find out!
- The white swans at the Gypsy Hill duck pond add a touch of elegance to your day at the park.
- A big dish of Kline’s vanilla is cool, creamy, and impossibly nostalgic.
Brown
- Your morning brew at Crucible Coffee Roasters is dark, earthy, and roasted with precision. This brown is bold and comforting.
- The raw materials at Staunton Clayground range from rich sienna to muddy mocha, and you can turn them into beautiful, functional creations. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to get your hand dirty.
- They’re firing up the grill at the Depot Grille. Remember that juicy steak you’ve been dreaming about?
All the Colors
