(Published 05/25/2023)

Memorial Day is the unofficial kick-off of summer vacation for most school kids, and where the fun begins! From festivals, live music, shopping and eating delicious food, we have a wealth of local events to keep you entertained this long weekend! As we celebrate, let us remember those who have died in service to our country.

Wright’s Dairy-Rite Memorial Day Cruise-In

Come on down to Wright’s Dairy-Rite for some awesome classic cars, music and food on Sunday, May 28 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visitors to Wright’s get to experience the food and atmosphere of a by-gone era with speaker or telephone ordering from your car or table. Wright’s continues to offer delicious homemade specialties, including homemade onion rings, hand-pattied burgers, footlong hotdogs, malts and sundaes, just to name a few.

Free Admission To Veterans and Active Service Members at WWPL

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is offering FREE admission to veterans and active service members on Monday, May 29th. This educational institution is dedicated to the study of both his life and the times in which he lived – from pre-Civil War to post World War I.  Come and learn about Wilson, take a stroll through the historic gardens, immerse yourself in a WWI trench exhibit, and view his Pierce-Arrow Presidential limousine that still runs to this day!

Make a Splash! Staunton Pools Open This Weekend

Get ready to show off your new swimsuit and make a splash as Staunton community pools open over Memorial Day weekend. Gypsy Hill Park Pool and Montgomery Hall Park Pool both offer interactive water features and areas for young kids to swim as well as water slides and deeper areas for strong swimmers.

Shop and Dine Downtown

Each weekend, Shop and Dine Out Downtown and Beyond turns several blocks of Beverley Street into a walking mall, creating a safe space for Stauntonians to shop, dine, and gather al fresco. Dozens of restaurants and shops take advantage of the outdoor space, and visitors can enjoy a heightened sense of community. This regular event will continue through October 29, 2023!
